For
an example of the style of web sites we develop, check
out Hackman Enterprises located at www.hackman.ie
, Greystones Golf Club located at www.GreystonesGC.com
or Regional Newspaper Advertising Network located at
www.rnan.ie.
In
order to keep development costs down, we have developed
a generic style of web site suitable for any small business
wishing to provide information on their products and
services. Another advantage of this approach is that
the time it takes to complete the site from the moment
you order it is only a matter of days. This is an important
factor for small businesses who do not have the time
and resources for a long and protracted development
phase. Also, by sticking to a tried and trusted style
of web site, you know what kind of web site you are
going to get.
The
main points of this style can be summarised as follows:
1. Each web page has a table of contents on the left-hand
side of the web page. In Internet terminology this would
be referred to as the navigation bar.
2. The arrows in the 'Table of Contents' indicate to
the user what section of the web site they are currently
looking at.
3. The colour scheme chosen is one that avoids the garish
look that some bright colours can give a web page.
4. No graphics are used in this layout. The only graphics
that appear on the web site are the pictures you choose
to have on it. This results in web pages that load quickly.
5. The web pages can be viewed in older web browsers
(a browser is the software that allows people to view
web pages), or browsers made by companies other than
Microsoft. This means you do not have to worry about
compatibility issues (unlike many web sites which state
something along the lines of 'this site is best viewed
with Microsoft Explorer').
